The Modern World Needs Inner Peace

Modernity has a significant impact on us all. The modern world is characterized by smart technology, the internet everywhere we go and an all-access culture of work that requires us to be “on” at every chance.

The time between lunch breaks is shorter and weekends are less frequent. Vacations can be put off until retirement.

It’s not always an option.

We are stressed, anxious, anxious, and confused. We don’t know whether the economy will have jobs in five, ten, or twenty years.

This could be due to one global crisis, or the upcoming automated replacement of 90% of our workforce.

We never feel like we have enough air to breathe. It is difficult to slow down when the world keeps spinning faster.

Many people find inner peace and Buddhist teachings a form of spirituality. While Buddhism can be a helpful tool in the quest for inner peace, it is also practical and applicable to everyday life.

We must first understand what inner peace is in order to understand what it is. What is inner peace?

You’re not wasting any more energy, you just keep it all in.

Being quiet, reserved and even timid.

Simply put, inner peace is not dependent on what other people see in you.

The practice of inner peace does not necessarily have to influence your external self. It is an active choice that you make after making internal changes.

What is inner peace, exactly?

Inner peace is when the noise in your head stops and the tangles begin to unravel, allowing you to see the space between thoughts for the first time in what may seem like forever.

Inner peace is the quiet we seek in an environment filled with constant noise. This allows us to see inside ourselves and how cramped things have become.

Inner peace allows us to notice the reasons we feel stress and anxiety every day and then we can finally clear out the mess we have made in our heads.

Millions are saved by the path to inner peace, which is possible because so many people have mental health problems, so many are drowning at work, and so many are moving away from traditional religion and spirituality.

It allows us to take a step back from the active selves that are stuck in a constant state of distress and allow ourselves to calm down for a few seconds or more.

There are some common obstacles that we all face. Learning how to overcome these negative thoughts is the key to inner peace.

Be aware of the following dangerous negative beliefs as you start to incorporate methods and practices for inner peace into your daily life:

1) “I’ll be happy when this comes my way.”

It is common to view happiness as a measure of what we have (and what we want).

We also know that happiness from “things”, whether it’s a new laptop, or a car, is fleeting. Once the novelty wears off we are back to the original point, but now we’re chasing another thing.

Happiness must be found within and not outside. You must re-connect with yourself and figure out what you want from your life.

2) “My true emotions will show my weaknesses and vulnerabilities.”

We hide our true feelings often because we don’t want to appear weak or small to others. Therefore, we hide them from the rest.

There is no faster way to stop your inner peace than to force yourself to be authentic.

3) “I shouldn’t get mad”

What can you do to deal with your anger?

If you are like most people, you will suppress your feelings. Focus on positive feelings and positive thoughts.

We must let go of social norms and evaluate our feelings solely by their actuality, not what we believe they should be.

5) “I must be doing something right away.”

One of the most important lines in a culture that is obsessed with productivity and achievement is “I must be doing something right now”.

There is no limit on what “right now” can be; it could be right before bed with your family or right before dinner. Or even in the first 5-minute of any break that you take all week.

We have been programmed to feel the constant need to be productive. Not because we want, but because it makes us feel like failures if not.

6) “I don’t think I’m good enough.”

We are never as good as our best, so the journey to self-improvement is a lifetime process.

We often use the phrase “I’m just not good enough” to make ourselves feel inadequate and stop us from trying.

So we feel we don’t belong, so we infuse these little lines of toxic thoughts into our minds. We mentally hinder ourselves to no other purpose than to encourage our minds to give up.

It’s easier for you to feel sorry for yourself and give up than to get over it and become the best version of yourself.

This philosophy can make inner peace seem distant for people who don’t believe in spirituality like me. It makes inner peace seem far away and accessible only to those who have been practising spirituality since a long time.

7. Inner peace is actually more of a process.

Most people have to do a lot of “shedding” in order to find inner peace. You must let go of negative thoughts and behaviours that prevent you from experiencing inner peace.

Unknowingly, people engage in self-destructive behaviours that prevent them from finding inner peace.

These unhealthy habits can sap our mental power and cause us to focus on the wrong things which cause us to feel disoriented and out of balance.

8. It’s not difficult to find inner peace.

You can make small changes to your daily life that will not only improve your mental health but also improve the quality of your life.

1) Stop blaming yourself too much

There is a limit to how much accountability you can have. While it is fine to take responsibility for your mistakes and be honest about them, it’s not healthy to be so self-righteous.

You must find a balance between recognizing the consequences of what you do and accepting that there may be things beyond your control.

2) Get rid of the victim mentality

The victim mentality is on the other end of the spectrum. You’ll never be able to accept responsibility for your actions if you constantly look for external justifications.

This mentality makes you more self-conscious and prevents you from living life fully.

3) Avoid being plied on by people

It is possible to spend your whole life trying to please everyone, but not everyone will be happy.

You can’t act on your own initiative if you seek approval and admiration from others.

You won’t be able to fully embrace your identity and make peace with your choices if you constantly look over your shoulder wondering what your boss, family, friends, or peers will think.

4) Say Goodbye To Grudges

Grudges are a form of self-consolation. We can become mad at people and believe we are punishing them.

You’re only wasting your mental energy on someone else who doesn’t care what you think.

You are preventing yourself from experiencing new opportunities and experiences by not being able to move on.

5) Stop Chasing Perfection

Perfectionists train their minds to not settle for less.

They become easily dissuaded and will only pursue things that provide assured self-gratification.

Inner peace is about being content with your strengths and limitations. It is being content with who you are now and being patient as you work to become the person you want to be.

How can anyone achieve inner peace?

  • You don’t need to start with a strong, sculpted version.
  • You must work hard to build muscle.
  • Treating inner peace like a muscle is the best thing about it
  • This muscle is unique to every person on Earth.
  • To experience inner peace, you don’t need to be religious or spiritual.

I was not religious, but I found Buddhism’s teachings to be comforting.

Not because they confirmed what I already knew about spirituality and enlightenment; but because their tenets were practical everyday applications.

As I tried to change my mindset and improve my life, I found too many resources that made it difficult to understand a simple concept.

After digging deep into the source, and skipping the complicated jargon, inner peace became a simple daily practice. These concepts felt so familiar that they were almost obvious.

Although it was tedious to read Buddhist teachings and numerous articles online, I eventually discovered five key components of inner peace.

1) Mindfulness: How to Reach It

Here’s how you can do it Set a time limit for how long you can work without interruption. This will help you increase your productivity.

Focus for 2-5 minutes each day on one object. You should only be focusing on the physical properties of an object (shape and colour, touch, weight, etc.)

2. Because it saved my life, I understand how important it is to live mindfully.

Did you know that I used to be a man in my 20s lifting boxes in a warehouse, with a lot of useless thoughts about the future and past?

I was unhappy, anxious, and underachieving in my life.

My turning point was when I began to study Buddhism and Eastern Philosophy.

I learned to let go of all the things that were holding me back and to live fully in the present.

To be clear, I am not a Buddhist. I don’t have any spiritual inclinations. I am just a normal guy who discovered eastern philosophy when he was feeling down.

Be wary of greed. You’ll start to feel more peaceful and you will feel the need for a little bit of spontaneity every once in a while. Feeling content will be disrupted if you want more than you actually need.

Be aware of defensive behaviour. Inner peace means accepting yourself as you are, even your flaws. Accept criticism from others without becoming victimized or self-blaming.

Inner peace is not about living in the moment, but it’s about being open to the possibilities of the future. Do not be afraid to explore new territory.

You must let go of any control you have over others or yourself. To preserve your inner peace, it is important to accept what happens, even if you don’t know or control the outcome.
