It might not feel like it but there are still pages to be written. The end isn’t yet here.
Not even close.
You are the author of your own story, and there are still many things you can do to make this chapter go smoothly.
These 10 pieces of advice will help you continue writing and build a satisfying redemption story.
1. Recognize What You Have
It is easy to feel happier when you look around and appreciate the things you have.
Being grateful for the things you have already has a positive effect on your outlook and makes it easier to be more optimistic about your life.
You could have warm socks, a delicious burger, or stable internet access to binge-watch your favorite series. These are small things we take for granted when we’re trying to get to the end of our workweek.
These are the keys to regaining our connection with the real world. This stops the downward spiral of thought and helps us get back to the ground.
2. Accept the Past
A painful memory can feel as fresh as the moment it was experienced for the first.

It’s not easy to move on from the past, but it is necessary.
It is impossible to change the facts. The past is written in ink.
It is impossible to alter the course of history with mental energy; only what happened at that moment can be changed.
It’s possible to view mistakes as either catastrophic failures or painful lessons that are never forgotten. It all comes down to perspective acceptance.
3. Take a moment to zoom out
It is easy to get caught up in certain things in life and lose sight of the important things.
Our self-worth is based on the title of our job, our bank account numbers, our clothes and our house.
Then, when these things go wrong, we are lost.
We need to look around and zoom out in those moments. We are still here, breathing and alive. Self-worth is not found in objects, but inside us.
4. Keep Your Breath Alive
Breathing is the best and easiest way to calm a spinning mind.
The lungs expand and contract with fresh air. This clears the mind and allows the heart to relax.
A study found that slowing down and relaxing can increase comfort and reduce anxiety and depression.
Meditation is often associated with breathing exercises.
Meditation can have many health benefits, including reducing stress, anxiety, and depression.
Humankind has evolved over millions of years to overcome some of the most severe natural disasters. You can certainly handle this stage of your life.

5. Return to the Present
Attractive forces are the past and present.
They can make you feel ashamed and regretful, and cause anxiety and fear.
Although we can mentally travel back and forth between them, our present is unaffected by negative emotions.
Mindfulness, or being mindful of the present moment in any given moment, can have positive effects on one’s overall well-being.
The moment is calm and clear, like an eye in a storm.
You can navigate through life in the storm, but you won’t be tossed around by the whirlwinds and past.
6. Concentrate on What Can Be Done
Steven Covey’s book 7 Habits of Highly Effective People refers to the “circle of Influence” as those things which are under our control.
These include the things we choose to concentrate on, how much effort we put into our work and what we plan to do with our emotions.
Disillusionment and frustration will only result from wasting mental energy on things that are not in our circle of influence.
To return to the present moment, you must regain control of the wheel.
It doesn’t mean that you have to allow the events of your life to drive you to places you aren’t comfortable with.
Focusing on the immediate will make it difficult to respond in any other way.
You have the power to choose to overcome your difficulties and become a better person. You have the power to choose.

It can help you to see your true purpose.

7. Accept The Clean Slate
Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, aged 30, was fired from the company he founded.
That would have been a devastating blow for anyone; to see the company that you worked so hard on turn its face at you.
Jobs saw it as liberating, and not as something to be fearful of.
He would then say in a speech that the “heaviness” of being successful had been replaced by the “lightness” of being a beginner again, less certain about everything.
It can feel as though we are returning to square one after a setback. It can be intimidating, but it doesn’t have the to.
You can now rebuild your self in the image you have always desired.
Follow the path that was not taken before, and follow your passions.
It doesn’t matter if you don’t acknowledge that it was terrible, but that doesn’t mean that you have to stop trying again.
Starting over is always an option, it’s never too late.
8. Be aware of your emotions
David Allen, productivity guru, has stated that “What you avoid doing” is the most important thing to do.
It is hard for anyone to confront regret, shame and sadness.
It can take several months to address these heavy emotions fully. What’s important, however, is to start the process.
It can feel like an explorer digging through the jungle, but it will clear the way.
Depression can be helped by writing down your thoughts and feelings in a journal.
Talking to a friend about emotions can be another way to help you process them.
9. Forgive yourself
It can be very difficult to let go of a past error.
It’s not the same thing as learning from your mistakes.
To move on and grow, one must be open to accepting the past and forgiving oneself.
When one shows compassion, true growth can occur.
10. Do Simple Things that Bring You Joy
We can get so wrapped up in our day that we forget about taking care of ourselves.
Happiness and joy do not always need to come with a high price tag. It can be as simple to go for a walk or return to childhood interests.
Simple joys can help us return to the things that make life worthwhile. Simple joys are never impossible to find.
